Gambia: Building Stronger Classrooms from the Ground Up

In the rural communities of Jiboroh Koto, Fufo, and Jurunku, over 600 young children are enrolled in early childhood education centers—despite crumbling infrastructure, limited learning materials, and a shortage of trained staff. With eight teachers serving all three centers, the odds are steep. Yet the commitment to education in these communities is unwavering.  
In response to these challenges, World Faith Gambia has convened a joint task force made up of teachers, members of the Village Development Committee, and volunteers to manage and oversee the running of the 3 schools.  This collaborative team has already developed and submitted more than five funding proposals to improve school buildings and provide basic learning resources. 
Their vision is clear: to create safe, supportive spaces where children can thrive.  But there is one pressing need that cannot wait: Teacher stipends to ensure these dedicated educators can continue supporting their students. 
This effort reflects the resilience and resolve of rural communities determined to give their youngest learners a strong start. With the right support, these early childhood centers can become hubs of growth, opportunity, and lasting change.
