Alexandra Karasavva, a native of Manhattan, graduated from New York University in International Politics and Middle Eastern Studies. Beyond studying in New York City and Prague, Czech Republic, she interned at the United Nations for the Republic of Cyprus, as she is of both Cypriot and Lebanese descent. There she attended meetings at the United Nations Security Council, General Assembly, and Council on Social and Economic Development, and reported on how given issues related to Cyprus' role in the United Nations.
Her interest in Lebanon is rooted in her Lebanese heritage, but it wasn't until the July War of 2006 that she was inspired to take a leadership role in social work in Lebanon. After meeting Co-Program Director Josh Martin, they began developing the Lebanon Project, which is focused on peace-building through service, education, and dialogue.
She recently began working for Transperfect Global Business Solutions and was promoted to Project Manager in January. Alex speaks Spanish and Greek, is learning Arabic and has a working knowledge of Japanese. Beyond her career and social action work, she loves baseball and is an avid reader. She resides in Manhattan, New York, New York.
