What is a World Faith Chapter? The World Faith Chapters are the heart of World Faith Programming. A chapter is a self-formed and self-governed group of religiously-diverse young people that tackles local community service needs. Whether it be soup kitchens in Manhattan or volunteering for Habitat for Humanity in North Carolina, or one of our international locations, World Faith Chapters are the quintessential model for what interfaith community service should be; action-based, youth-based, and local. These volunteer teams are not only effective and quick to mobilize, they are extremely cost effective. By utilizing existing structures, like universities and houses of worship, chapters can grow into sustainable groups. By connecting with local organizations, chapters are also able to create valuable volunteering opportunities that give participants the ability to genuinely contribute to the needs of their community. Being locally led gives young people the opportunity to test their social entrepreneurialism in their own community. Furthermore, it gives the programming aspect key insight, making the community service projects most applicable from the local perspective. This contrasts sharply to the organizations whose decision making is done externally, leaving local needs neglected or unfulfilled.
